Vasudeva Dwadashi is dedicated to Lord Krishna. It is observed on the day after Devshayani Ekadashi, during the Ashada Mash. It marks the beginning of Chaatur Maas (the four holy months of monsoon). Lord Krishna and Maa Lakshmi are worshipped on this day. Devotees who observe strict penance for the four months of Ashadha, Shravan, Bhadrapada and Ashvin can attain remarkable advantages and salvation of the soul. Vasudeva Dwadashi or Vasu Dev Dwadasi is the Dwadasi day dedicated to Lord Vasudeva (Lord Sri Krishna). Vasudev Dwadasi falls on Ashada Shudda Dwadasi, just a day after Shayana Ekadasi or Deva Sayani Ekadashi. According to Puranas, Lord Vishnu represents Ekadasi and Goddess Mahalakshmi represents Dwadasi.

The occasion of Vasudeva Dwadashi is devoted to Lord Krishna. It falls on the next day of Devshayani Ekadashi during the Ashadha month. The day marks the beginning of Chaatur Maas (the four holy monsoon months). Devotees worship Lord Krishna and Goddess Lakshmi. Devotees undergo strict penance for the four months of Ashada, Shravan, Bhadrapada and Ashwin to gain numerous benefits and salvation of the soul. Donating rice, fruits, and clothes to priests is considered auspicious on this day.

Devotees take holy bath in the morning to clean the body and soul.

They observe fasts throughout the day to attain blessings and prosperity. Offering flowers, incense, water, lamp and a hand fan to the idol is considered auspicious. Performing panch Amrit worship of Lord Vishnu is very favourable. Devotees visit Vishnu temple to listen and sing bhajans and bhakti songs. Chanting of Vishnu Sahasranama and other mantras of Lord Vishnu is propitious.
